They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. – Isaiah 61:3

Greetings in the matchless name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is indeed a great honor and privilege to serve as pastor of this congregation. The words of Isaiah 61:1-3 express the gospel ministry to which we have been called and thus strive to live out in the service of the Paradise Baptist Church and community-at-large. The ministries, leaders and congregation are encouraged to work out their soul salvation in exercising their God-given talents that the Church and community will be blessed and God will be glorified.

On behalf of the Residents of Newark, let me say I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generous act of kindness and compassion.

When I decided to assist the Honorable Assemblyman Jamel C. Holley of Union County, who initiated a water donation drive for the Residents of Newark, I had no idea that Almighty God would reveal an Angel like you.

I have been encouraged by thousands of donated cases, and hundreds of donated pallets of water coming from across the country, as well as donations from people on other continents. I have always known of the power of God’s Love, Grace and Mercy, yet I am humbled that my presence on MSNBC’s 11th Hour with Brian Williams has made thousands of people like you sacrifice and give from their hearts to provide immediate assistance to the residents of Newark, New Jersey with the gift of water.

In His Service,

Bishop Jethro C. James. Jr.

Volunteers Needed

We need Volunteers to Load and Unload Cases of Water.

We are in need of Drivers with Vans, Jeeps or Trucks to Deliver to Senior Buildings.

We need volunteers to answer phones due to the high volume of calls we are receiving from around the country.

We need volunteers to help coordinate shipments that come in, keep track of the number of cases of water that come in, as well as how many cases are delivered. We need volunteers to work with the young men and women who will be loading the trucks, cars, jeeps, and vans, and help track pick ups by residents who come to the church for water by having them sign “Pick-up” sheets, when lines form at the church for water.

We are providing water to Newark Residents to whom the City of Newark Administration says they are not on the lead service line list, therefore they cannot receive water from the City of Newark. We are delivering water to Senior Citizens, the sick and shut-in, pregnant mothers, new mothers who need water to mix baby formula, and the tenants in Newark Public Housing.

Volunteers are Needed: Monday through Saturday from 9:00AM to 7:00PM.

We would appreciate an hour or two, or whatever amount of time and/or resources you are able to donate or spare to help the residents of Newark gain access to much needed bottled water.

Please Contact the Church at (973) 624-6614 between the hours of 9:00AM and 6:00PM

Bishop Calls On NJ Governor To Do More About Water Crisis

Bishop Jethro C. James Jr., Senior Pastor of Paradise Baptist Church, is collecting Water Donations for Residents of Newark, having difficulty gaining access to much needed water. Paradise Baptist Church is delivering mostly to Senior Citizen Buildings throughout the entire city. We are also including deliveries to public housing, family dwellings, and homebound residents. There is no need to provide proof of Residency in Newark to receive water. Paradise Baptist Church is working to fill in the gaps for our most vulnerable residents. Therefore, Paradise Baptist Church is arranging for the distribution of the water to the seniors directly to their buildings so they only have to come downstairs to their community rooms to get water. We will also be delivering to family housing units directly. At present, we are working to contribute to those in need based on supply and demand.

Donations can be given by ordering water directly online and having it shipped to the Church:
